A New Path to Homeownership: Early Findings from the ONE+ Mortgage Program

TBF’s Racial Wealth Gap Partnership launched the ONE+ Mortgage Program to help more low and moderate income families buy homes, building on research that shows how even modest down payment support can generate substantial long term gains in home equity. This report takes stock of the program’s early impact, reviewing data on who has used ONE+, where they bought, and the types of homes they chose. And we draw on focus groups with recent buyers to understand how they navigated the process and what tradeoffs they faced. This report offers a baseline for how the program is working for the first wave of participants, allowing for future comparisons as their experiences unfold.
