More than half of Boston artists have been unable to make up income lost during the pandemic.

Compared to other cities, Boston arts organizations receive very little state and local funding. Just over $10 million of the Boston art scene’s public funds came from the federal government in 2012, with significantly less support coming from the city or the state.
